We are a non-profit organization formed by the alumni of the Gentlemen of Quality, affectionately known as ‘GQ’. GQ was formed in 2004 on NYU’s undergraduate campus with the intention of providing black and brown male undergraduate students with a space to connect with peers who look like them and to help them grow. From Your Gentlemen of Quality (FYGQ) is an initiative to harness the collective experiences of this eclectic group of male-identifying persons to empower ourselves, undergraduates and minority communities.

MISSION

FYGQ provides male identifying persons of color with representative mentors with the intention of increasing access to personal, societal, and professional success

VISION

Men of color should have an equal opportunity to pursue their professional and personal aspirations through access to unique experiences that empower their passions and accelerate their ability to improve themselves as well as their surrounding community

2024 BOARD

DR. ANDRE BRYAN - PRESIDENT

“I dared to dream against unfavorable odds; all my success, all my accolades are only meaningful if they uplift my community. I co-founded FYGQ to shift the traditional definition of mentorship from one based primarily on professional development towards a more holistic approach. A big part to accomplishing this involves creating a culture that addresses basic and psychological needs through our programming and maximizes growth needs through our example. During the pursuit of that mission we will make the path for male identifying persons of color to live a fulfilled life more accessible.” - Dre, MD, MBA - Board Certified Anesthesiologist

“Throughout my career, I've struggled to find black male mentors that represent my interests and values. As a creative entrepreneur and producer, I have had to forge my own path in media, culture, and technology. With FYGQ, I hope that we can create an institution where young men of color can find aspirational mentors that look like them - no matter what career path they choose.” - Gerald

GERALD JEAN-BAPTISTE - CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

QUEMUEL ARROYO - BOARD MEMBER

“My time at NYU was transformative in so many ways. The brotherhood and mentorship I received from GQ and AAP helped shape that experience and I now seek to pay it forward using FYGQ as a medium to maintain my engagement with diverse young men and help shape their exposure to what lies ahead post NYU. I am proud to serve on the board of FYGQ and hope to  continue fostering a place of belonging for all our members.” - Q, MPA - Transportation & Universal Design Expert

KYLE GORDON - BOARD MEMBER

“Undergraduate student activities work was critical for my development as a leader. While moving into new personal and professional spaces, I've found that at each stage there's always something new to learn that could have community-wide benefits. I'd like FYGQ to be a vehicle that shares the collective information we've acquired and continues to generate new development opportunities beyond the university environment, because access to knowledge is especially important for underserved populations who too often miss out on these horizon expanding moments.” - Kyle, MBA - Product Strategist

PATRICK S. DORIME - BOARD MEMBER

Patrick credits the leadership roles that he held at NYU as one of the primary reasons why he has found success in his role as a senior attorney and team leader at Ropes & Gray – especially his roles within GQ. Grateful for the lessons that he learned in these roles, Patrick is a staunch advocate of the importance organizations like the Gentlemen of Quality have during the most formative of years of adulthood – undergraduate school, and is excited to support and strengthen the Gentlemen of Quality in his role as a member of the Board of Directors.
